Why Do the Nations Rage?

Why Do the Nations Rage?

Have you ever wondered why nations engage in what their people later look back on and ask “What were we thinking?” The history of every nation is filled with these regretful behaviors such as Germany’s participation in the Holocaust and America’s participation in slavery. If we look to understand how not just a few men, but a nation full of people can plot, plan, and scheme to kill an entire race of human beings (as in the Holocaust) or to cause others to think that a human being could be owned (as in the slavery years in America’s history), we find the reason for this in Psalm 2. “Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against...

An Invitation to Intimacy

And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church. – I Corinthians 14:35  Intimacy is defined as a close, familiar, and usually affectionate or loving personal relationship with another person or group. Intimacy occurs during and long after we join or bond with another. At first glance, our Scripture today doesn’t appear to relate to intimacy. Most people consider intimacy to relate to a physical union. The truth is we remember intimate conversations with people much more than intimate physical interaction. Making, Leading and Restoring

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: - Psalm 23:2-3a  I am a creature of habit, that is a personal disciplined habit. Being a person with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), structure is my best friend against the incredible number of distractions and  temptations I face everyday. People with ADD are easy distracted so having a set schedule and personally vowing to maintain it is a way I limit the number of distractions. I am also a very curious person. Being curious is not a detrimental condition unless you are prone to distraction as I am. Curiosity plus distractability can make for wasted time. I often borrow words from the movie “Hook“, an adaptation of the beloved novel, Peter...

Pink Eyed Christians

Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. - Romans 16:17   During the discussion time of my weekly bible study class, I attempted to explain Romans 16:17 by using the term Pink-Eyed Christian. It compares someone with Conjunctivitis, or Pink Eye, and the Christian described in Romans 16:17. The symptoms of Pink Eye are redness and swelling of the membranes covering either the whites of the eyes or the inner eye lids or both.  The spiritual symptoms of a Pink Eyed Christian are numerous but the impact on others is the same. Their words or behavior cause division within the Church body. When we hear the word Pink Eye mentioned, maybe from a co-worker or friend, we know...
