Why You Should Be Blogging

Why You Should Be Blogging

Designing websites and blogs for Christian authors and writers is becoming a passion for me. I meet so many genuine people this way. They are passionate people. God has blessed them with some incredible stories and lessons and they are bursting to share them. I get such a thrill when an author or writer sees the result of our collaboration together. Their website is their personal property on the world-wide web and I am happy to help them homestead it, if only for a while. Authors and writers often ask me why they should blog. There are a multitude of answers to that question. Search Google and you’ll find the answers vary by industry or purpose. For instance, companies need to blog for an entirely different reason that non-profit organizations do. The...

Social Media & Marketing Tips for Authors: Simplicity in Blog Design

This article is part of Social Media & Marketing Tips for Authors  series and addresses the specific needs of Christian Authors. When creating a web site or blog as your author site, it’s important to keep things simple. Your web site is your virtual property, your home on the web.  Just as in the real world, your home or office address should be attractive and well maintained. Simplicity in the web design is key. In a recent CopyBlogger article  The Amish Guide to Intelligent Web Design, Pamela Wilson describes “…how to achieve the kind of simplicity that leads to a sophisticated, ultra-functional website…”  by contrasting web design with the ‘plain’ life of the Amish. She identifies the following key...

Social Media Tips: Bitly

For those just entering the world of social media, I want to provide some helpful, free and easy resources available to you. One of these resources is bitly, a URL shortening service. It’s free, it couldn’t be any easier to use, and it offers the ability to track usage or clicks which can help you determine which types of your articles are most popular and which platform is sharing your links the most. Let’s say you want to share a rather lengthy URL on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn or other Social Media Platforms. You don’t want the entire URL to appear in your status update because such long links are annoying  and tend to turn...

What? Who said that? Oh, yes, I hear you reader. You just asked “How do I go about building a platform?” I’m glad you asked. There are several ways to build your platform, expand your...
